| Commentary: Fontana should rip up red carpet
So, here's the plan: Watch the NASCAR race in the afternoon today, walk next door to the Kodak Theater and see "Juno" win best picture. Pretty sure it's do-able. I think they share parking lots. Some of you suffer under the misapprehension that the two-mile track we used to call California Speedway is located in the Inland Empire. Actually, it's practically in Los Angeles. Santa Monica Pier is just down the street. You can see the Hollywood sign from the start-finish line. You can feel the ocean breeze from here, smell the salt air at night. Or maybe that's exhaust fumes. One of the laughable vanities of Southern California sports is the Fontana track's attempts to market itself as NASCAR's show-biz pit stop. To hear track officials tell it, you could rub elbows with Jack Nicholson in the garage here, bump into Angelina Jolie in the grandstand, park next to Tom Cruise.
Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!
Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2. “Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better." Ddot the King hit me with that. Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this: “Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2." LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.
Crooked Talk on Iraq Cost
McCain once confessed that he doesn't know much about economics. Even he should be able to comprehend the disastrous fiscal effects of the Iraq war, which its proponents originally promised would cost us almost nothing. Perhaps he should ask an economist to calculate the real cost of occupying Iraq for a hundred years, as he imagines—and how many generations will pay dearly for this mistake. .
Class Of '88: Paid In Full
Shan was in the house. The record company agreed to put out “My Melody" but we needed a mix. Me and Shan sat there the whole time trying to figure out a mix ourselves. If you listen to the record, it has highs and lows. There were great sounding records at the time, but I listen to stuff on the record now and it sends chills through me like dam how did we deliver this? Me and Shan did all the mixes because Marley Marl didn't want to do them because Rakim was rhyming too slow and he was Marley a headache. AllHipHop.com: Okay, here is what Marley said in regards to Shan engineering the session: “What's ironic about those two sessions was MC Shan was an assistant engineer or an apprentice at my studio. So I let Shan record Rakim's vocals for those songs." Eric B.: That's not true.
Guillen, Williams like team's tone so far
Late Saturday afternoon, after the Sox' offense had another big game in the Cactus League, manager Ozzie Guillen also gave a big thumbs-up. "We've been playing pretty good,'' Guillen said after the White Sox won their third straight exhibition game, a 12-8 decision over the Diamondbacks in front of a big crowd (9,296) at Tucson Electric Park. The Sox were awful last spring, going 10-22. They weren't much better in the regular season (72-90). "I think we have to set the tone right way,'' Guillen said. "We have to set the tone how we're going to play all year long right away.'' The White Sox have been doing just that, especially on offense. After getting 18 hits Saturday, they are battling a mind-boggling .390 in the Cactus League while averaging almost 9 runs.
